Not iPhone 15, but only two iPhones are set to receive Apple intelligence features this year

Apple's new AI features, branded as Apple Intelligence, will only be available on select devices this year, focusing primarily on the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Apple announced some noteworthy upgrades during WWDC 2023. The highlight of the event was the new AI system, which Apple calls the Apple intelligence. Now, while the updates are so good that every iPhone user would want to have on his iPhone, Apple is not making the features available for all iPhone users. At least for now. However, if you are using the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you are in for luck. As these are the iPhone models that will receive Apple intelligence features later this year.

These models, equipped with the A17 Pro chip, are the only iPhones currently confirmed to support Apple Intelligence features. This suggests that future models, such as the anticipated iPhone 16 Pro, might also include these capabilities. For now, however, the advanced AI features are exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro series.

The limitations don’t stop at iPhones. To access Apple Intelligence on iPads and Macs, you need a device with an M1 chip or newer. Here’s a list of compatible devices:

--iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
--iPad Pro and iPad Air (M1 onwards)
--MacBook Pro (M1 or newer)
--MacBook Air (M1 or newer)
--iMac (M1 or newer)
--Mac mini (M1 or newer)
--Mac Pro (M2 Ultra or newer)
--Mac Studio (M1 Max and newer)

For those with older devices, there’s still hope. Apple will provide some AI features, but these will depend on cloud processing, which limits the on-device functionality available on the newer chipsets. This means that while older iPhones, iPads, and Macs will get some of the benefits of Apple Intelligence, they won’t be able to match the performance of the newer models.

The bottom line? If you want to fully experience Apple Intelligence on your phone, upgrading to an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max is necessary. While older devices will receive some AI features, the most advanced capabilities will be reserved for those with the latest hardware, reinforcing Apple’s push towards its newest technology.

The Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system designed for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This innovative system merges the power of generative models with personal context, offering highly useful and relevant intelligence. Integrated deeply into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, Apple Intelligence leverages the advanced capabilities of Apple Silicon.

The system is designed to understand and create both language and images, performing actions across various apps, and drawing from personal context to streamline and accelerate everyday tasks. For instance, it can suggest replies in messages, organise photos, or even assist in drafting documents, all tailored to the user’s habits and preferences.

One of the standout features is Private Cloud Compute. This technology sets a new benchmark for privacy in AI. It balances computational tasks between on-device processing and more extensive, server-based models. These models run on dedicated Apple Silicon servers, ensuring that even when leveraging powerful server-based computations, user privacy is maintained. This dual approach allows Apple Intelligence to deliver robust performance without compromising on the stringent privacy standards Apple is known for
